Michael J. Broom, M.D.
Dr.
Broom is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Dartmouth College with
a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry. He received his Medical
Degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New
York City and completed his Orthopaedic Residency at the Hartford
Hospital and the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Broom’s residency was followed by a Fellowship
in Spinal Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Dr. Broom has been active in resident teaching at the University
of Kansas and currently participates as a teacher in the resident
program at Orlando Regional Medical Center. He was responsible
for the first spine clinic at the Kansas City Veterans Administration
Hospitals in Kansas City, Missouri and is presently Co-Director
of Spine Surgery Rotation for the Orthopaedic Residency Program
at Orlando Regional Medical Center. He also serves as Medical
Director of a back rehabilitation program in Orlando. He has trained
several Orthopaedic Surgeons and is Director of Florida SpineCare
Centers Orthopaedic fellowship program.
Dr. Broom is active in research and has presented
his work at national and international meetings. He has published
various articles regarding disorders of the spine including a
chapter in a major orthopaedic surgery text book. He continues
to write articles for publication and speeches. Dr Broom was
nominated for the 2003 Florida Choice Award honoring Medical
excellence in Florida Workers' Compensation.
He is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
